Districts

The Gulf Stream Council currently serves over 4500 Scouts and 2500 adult volunteers in seven counties, including Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Glades, Okeechobee, and Hendry counties in southeast Florida.

These seven counties are divided into two service areas and five districts, each guided by a full-time Scouting professional and driven by volunteer committees and service teams.  Each District strives to mobilize local resources to ensure the growth and success of Scouting within its territory.  This is accomplished by four committees who are responsible for carrying out standard functions: membership growth, fund development, program delivery, and unit service.

• Membership Committees strive for growth by establishing new Scouting units, recruiting new members to existing units, and retaining members as they advance to the next Scouting program.
• Finance Committees conduct fundraising and product sales campaigns, contributing to the District’s share of the Council Operating Budget.
• Program Committees support unit programs by delivering and promoting camping opportunities, special activities, and community service; training adult volunteers; and youth advancement and recognition.
• Commissioner Corps provides unit service to local Scouting units and their leaders through coaching and consultation to ensure every Scouting unit operates safely and provides a successful program.
